IASA Malaysia was established in 2009 and locally registered as an IT professional society association with Registry of Societies Malaysia as Information Technology and Software Architect Association of Malaysia (IASA Malaysia). IASA Malaysia is part of IASA Global which was founded in 2002 as the International Professional Association for IT Architects. The acronym IASA stands for International Association for Software Architects. It is almost similar to how Project Management Institute (PMI) functions; that is to provide learning avenues and certifications for aspiring professional IT Architects. If PMI has PMBoK, IASA has ITABoK (Information Technology Architecture Body of Knowledge). IASA certifications are the first global industry architect certifications that are completely vendor independent and run only by practicing architects. IASA provides four levels of certification which describe the major milestones in an IT architect’s career. IASA Malaysia is playing a significant role in Malaysian Digital Government initiative through 1GovEA, a structured approach to define an organization covering the aspect of business and technical. 1GovEA Blueprint provides a framework, methodology and implementation plan to help public sector agencies to develop Enterprise Architecture (EA) for their respective agencies. 1GovEA is also a practice in transforming the agency through planning across four (4) primary domains which are Business, Data, Application and Technology. The 1GovEA service is under Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU).
